World Book Day 05 Mar 2026

Today is World Book Day, my love of books and reading began when I was a child, I always looked forward to bedtime stories with my parents. Those evenings with my Mother and Father had a lasting impact, they sparked my imagination and curiosity and set me on my path to become a writer and poet.

Since 2023 I have volunteered for Bookmark Reading Charity committing to reading sessions twice a week with a young reader, watching a child's confidence grow as they learn new words and making up their own stories has been incredible.

However through Bookmark Reading charity's new #MindTheGap campaign I was shocked to learn 1 in 8 children in the UK, aged 5-8, don't have a single book of their own at home.*

When children miss out on reading, it impacts their confidence, creativity, and their ability to dream beyond what they know. It isn't just about school performance: it's about opening a world of possibilities for their future. That's why I'm supporting Bookmark Reading charity to help every child access the joy of reading.
